FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you provide your own instrument and sound system?
I sure do! I have a brand new CASIO PX-S700 Privia digital piano in white with a very chic, modern design and great piano-like sound, a matching white Professional Everse speaker with stand, all the cables necessary for installation and a portable battery which can provide about 6 hours of power.
My venue already has a gorgeous grand piano. Can you play it instead?

I can play on any piano as long as it is in good condition.

Do you have a microphone we could use for the ceremony?

I don't have a microphone for the time being, but if you decide to provide it separately, I do have a good speaker you can plug it into.
Where are you based?

I’m based in the larger Bay Area and Silicon Valley, which means I can be available on short notice for performances in Northern California.

Do you have travel fees?
Within Santa Clara and a 25 mile radius there is no travel fee (San Jose, Palo Alto, Stanford, Saratoga, Los Gatos and Fremont). However, when traveling further than 25 miles, I charge an additional fee which is defined by the distance traveled. I may also need to charge a hotel fee if the commute is more than 3 hours one way from Santa Clara, CA.
What are your power requirements?

It depends on the amount of time I have to play. Mostly I don’t have any requirements as I have a portable battery which can feed my equipment for up to 6 hours. If I should play longer than that, I’ll just need access to a simple power outlet.
How much space do you need to be able to play at an event?

A surface of 2 meters by 2 does the job (6½ by 6½ feet).
Can you perform in outdoor settings (beach, field, forest, etc.)?

Yes, as long as there is enough space for me to set up my equipment in a levelled and dry surface (in case of rain, I need a covered space where the keyboard can be set safely).

Do you have any other specific requirement from the venue?
My only requirement is to have on-site parking, preferably at the shortest possible distance from the setting space as the equipment is heavy!

I have a very specific idea of the music I want at my event. Can you play whatever I want?

My main goal is to make your vision for your special occasion come true, so I work directly with my clients to create their Ultimate Wedding Playlist or the perfect event song list. Your personalised playlist can be composed of songs from my library of over 300 songs available here and I can also take up to two special requests included in the price!

Any additional special request will generate a $25 Special Request Fee ($25 for each additional special song). This fee applies to modern music not available in my existing repertoire, new releases, specific arrangements for which the scores need to be purchased or if the music is extremely difficult.
I don’t know what songs to choose for my event. Do you have a setlist?
If you prefer to avoid the usually overwhelming task of choosing songs for your event, I have a large repertoire of over 300 songs to pull from as well as various genre-themed song lists. You can simply let me know the ambiance you want to go for and I’ll select the pieces to play accordingly.
Can you adapt a song to a specific musical style or genre?

Mostly yes :) All songs can be played more slowly or quicker to create a different ambiance.

How can I get an idea of how my chosen songs will sound like at the event?
I want your event to be nothing but perfect and just as you imagine it. If you hesitate between songs or versions of a song, I can record and send you a song demo for you to analyse when choosing the music for your event.

Do you take song requests during events?
Yes I can, if my client agrees to me taking requests beforehand. Please keep in mind it can be disruptive of the flow and energy of the event as this means people come talk to me, I need to stop playing, search for the music online and then play it. Your venue should also have a good internet network for me to download the scores of the requested song to my music tablet.
How much does it cost to hire Platinum Pianist as a wedding or event pianist?
Because each wedding or event is so unique with a variety of elements to take into account, rates vary from event to event. I offer different customisable packages for each client to choose from in order to make sure you get exactly what you need.

My ceremony packages start at $750 and go up to $2000, with the average couple spending $950 for their special day. Private event packages start at $500.
For more information on packages or to request a quote, you can contact me here.
How long in advance should I contact you for my event?

This depends on the type of event. Some private and corporate events allow for a last-minute reservation without a problem, while weddings tend to require a bit more time of preparation (playlist, attire, transportation arrangements, etc.). Ideally, you would contact me a few months beforehand to confirm availability and start working together on your event’s specificities. However, I do accept short-notice reservations if I happen to be available for your event’s date :)

You can contact me here to confirm date availability, or you can make a direct reservation here.

What happens if you get sick or are unexpectedly unable to attend my wedding or event?

In the rare scenario that I can no longer perform at your event due to circumstances beyond my control, such as illness, injury, or other force majeure events, I will promptly notify you and make reasonable efforts to provide a suitable replacement or offer a refund of any previously paid fees.
What type of private events do you perform for?

You name it! I have previously played at various kinds of events including holiday parties, private concerts, charity galas, fashion runways, among others.

What is the preparation process once I officially hire you for my wedding or event?
I start by giving you a consultation to discuss your musical needs and the particularities of your event. We’ll later keep in touch virtually to set a playlist and decide on any details. My priority is that you get the best results possible, so I try to give you as much useful information as I can to better plan your special occasion, which can include advising you on the perfect setting for your event if you haven’t found it yet.
My venue requires vendors to have liability insurance. Do you have a policy?
Yes, I have a $2 million liability insurance policy and can send your venue a Certificate of Insurance.

My wedding or event has a specific theme. Can you dress accordingly?

Sure! If you have a specific attire in mind, please let me know in advance. I have a variety of dress options and other professional attire you can choose from. However, if I don't already have a dress in conformance with your theme, I may need to charge an additional fee to purchase one.
